Serving is all about using your spiritual gifts to spread God’s Grace and his message of salvation to your world.
When Jesus came to the earth 2000 years ago, he served the world by showing love to the unlovable, meeting the practical needs of the needy and sharing the Good News of God’s grace to the lost. He came to serve.
As imitators of Jesus Christ, we also serve people at Grace, in Hampton Roads and throughout the world. The Message interpretation of Ephesians 2:10 says: that “He creates each of us … to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do…”
There’s a funny stigma that ‘serving God’ means you’re either holding babies in a church service on Sunday, feeding a hungry person in an underdeveloped country or going door-to-door telling other people about Jesus. Those three ways are viable options, but don’t limit God—he’s far more creative and resourceful than we know and he knows you to the deepest level. He knows your perfect fit, and there’s a good chance it’s not what you’re expecting.
